UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST LEGISLATIVE MINISTRY
UULM (www.uulmca.org) California is a statewide justice ministry that serves to empower the moral voice of Unitarian Universalist values in the public arena. Guided by Unitarian Universalist principles, the Ministry seeks to develop the skills of civic engagement that we may educate, organize, and advocate to change policies and structures that inhibit human development, harm the environment, and destroy communities. We are called to educate and organize for justice.

PSWD UUMA, a chapter of the continental UUMA, meets regularly as a whole, as well as in cluster groups, to discuss issues of general interest and for mutual support. UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST SERVICE COMMITTEE of SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (UUSC)
Since 1939, UUSC (www.uusc.org) has confronted a broad range of issues, working at home and abroad to improve the human condition. International programs are focused on the political, civil, economic, and social rights of citizens in such diverse areas as Latin America, the Caribbean, West Africa, and Asia. UUSC has long recognized that the conditions under which people live and work-and sometimes suffer- are often directly influenced by decisions made at the highest levels of government and in the board rooms of major corporations.

Public policy education and action are essential ingredients in UUSC's work for a more just world. The Service Committee has a small professional staff, assisted by over 1,000 volunteers who provide financial resources and energy. The UU Service Committee of Southern California covers only that area of the District.

CAMP DE BENNEVILLE PINES

A mountain retreat owned by the congregations of the PSWD and managed by a volunteer board of directors, de Benneville Pines (www.uucamp.org)  maintains and operates a 17-acre recreational facility. Societies and other groups may lease all or a part of the premises. Individuals may register for any of the camp-sponsored events held throughout the year, especially on holiday weekends. Self-contained retreat cabins with kitchen and living room are available for small groups, such as board retreats.

Located at 6,800 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains, de Benneville is about a two-hour drive from Los Angeles. Open all year, it offers snow camps as well as summer camps. A wide variety of programs cater to such groups as families, singles, adults, youth, and children. There is a swimming pool available in the summer and a hot tub year round. Cabins are heated, and a main lodge serves as dining hall, meeting room, theater, and dance facility. A new retreat cabin, with its own kitchen and meeting room, can be rented separately.

Camp Operations Manager Janet James is a full-time director for Camp de Benneville Pines. Her duties include hiring and training camp employees, fiscal management, program development, facilities management, marketing, and camper relations. Working closely with the camp's board of directors, she carries out the vision of the board, and is responsible for promoting the camp's mission.
